Duncan, South Carolina's origins go back to 1811 when a post office was established on the present townsite on Highway 290. Today this growing community of more than 3,400 is a vibrant part of the Spartanburg County economic mix.

The Town of Duncan owes much of its existence to landowner Leroy Duncan who moved to the area in the years immediately following the Civil War. His wish was officially granted in 1881.
